City of Juana Díaz

Choose City:

Official flag of Juana Díaz, Puerto RicoDubbed as the "Bethlehem of Puerto Rico", Juana Díaz is a town strong in tradition and folklore. Also known as the "City of the Poets", Juana Díaz is a blooming city rich with nice people and quiet environments. Its most interesting aspect is its traditional celebration of the Three Kings Day, which celebrates the kings that came from the east to pay their respects to the Baby Jesus. The holiday is celebrated each January 6th and marks the most important event in the city.

Getting There
Getting to Juana Diaz is easy. Just take road PR-52 south towards Ponce. You will find the last toll booth on PR-52 right on the entrance of the city; however, do not take the toll. Instead, take the first exit BEFORE the main toll. You will have to pay a $0.35 toll to the entrance. Once you pass the city toll, you will arrive at the intersection of road 149, with the Juana Diaz Shopping Center right in front of you. To get to the Juana Díaz Town Square, take a left on the traffic stop after the toll, then pass 2 more traffic lights. You will find a McDonald's restaurant to your right, make a right turn here and continue a few meters ahead. You will find the Square directly in front of you.

Exploring the Area / What to Expect
Juana Diaz does not offer that great deal of sights and attractions as of yet; however, you might find it interesting as a stop if you are heading south to Ponce. Important places to see is the Three King's Monument (its right after you take the toll, you can't miss it), and other activities include enjoying ice cream from the Chinese ice cream store located right on the town square. Some of the more explorer type visitors might find the Lucero Cave an interesting visit. The best time to visit the town is during christmas (it ends here Jan 6) so you can enjoy the decorated Town Square and the famous Nativity Scene.
