Location Description from Publisher

"San Juan, Puerto Rico is probably the only place in the Caribbean with an 11-mile rapid train system. With its 15 stops going from down town San Juan to the neighboring downtown Bayamón, the locals have an easier way to go to work, hospitals, schools and other places. Before we start with the recommendations, please note that you have to get to the downtown SAGRADO CORAZON Station. You can take a cab anywhere and ask to be taken to the train station. If you are staying in the Condado area you can take bus B-21 which actually ends at the station. If you are in Old San Juan you can take bus M-3 which also ends at the train station. Keep in mind that you need correct change for the bus ($0.75). The train is also $0.75 but you will need to purchase the train pass. The train pass is also good on the buses. If you are staying in the Isla Verde area then you will need to take bus A-5 or C-53 to the old city and the M 3 to the train station. First there is the University of Puerto Rico. It is really a nice campus with very interesting buildings mostly the tower. The whole campus is like a botanical garden, so get ready to see some interesting trees and plants. There is a stop called, UNIVERSIDAD and it leaves you right at the entrance or maybe I should say under the entrance. You see, this is one of the two subway stops. Most of the train stops are above ground and on the ground. At the University you should visit the tower. There is a museum, a post office and of course a students` cafeteria that looks like a food court. I think that between the ride there, the walking around, a light lunch and maybe some of the off campus shopping area, you can be there all day. At the Hato Rey station you can get off and walk the mangrove boardwalk and see iguanas resting on branches. The last stop is Bayamón. It stops very near the town square and it is a great way to see another town. Definitely less touristy. Text ©2010 Victor Balbin - CountrySideTours.com. Reproduction is forbidden."
