If you're seeking a refreshing rainforest experience away from the stress of every day life for a couple days, or longer, in a cozy jungle lodge hideaway in a relaxing slice of paradise youll find that all and more at the Jungle Lodge. On this part of the island we value friendliness, gentleness and calm. If you're in a hurry or need everything to run like a Swiss train schedule, you will miss the point of being here. Remember, the song,...."Don't Worry, Be Happy" was written by our neighbor in Jamaica. The quality of your time here will be in relation to what you're able to leave behind - shoes, watch, cares and cell phone. Yes, you can surf the net, check emails on a secure WIFI signal, but remember our strong suit....friendliness, gentleness and calm.
The lodge sits in a landscaped tropical fruit garden and the verdant lushness of the tropical rainforest surrounding it, alongside a river with pools and cascading waterfall.
The living quarters are tropically furnished with a queen-size orthopedic bed and bamboo furniture, bouquets of fresh-cut flowers, and has a kitchenette and bath.
The kitchenette has a coffee maker, a refrigerator, microwave, dinner ware, glassware & utensils and a pantry, Teflon cooking surface, and outdoor BBQ. Bathroom of tile and marble stone, amenities and handmade soaps, with shower and fresh toweling.
Sound simple? It is; uncomplicated, sensual and tranqil.
Outdoors hammocks strung on mahogany trees, swayed by bamboo breezes, lounge chairs, dining table and chairs.
Just across the roadway, a cafe with a four-star chef, and several nearby local family-style restaurants for local "comida Criolla"; choices to suit your fancy.
The pantry has local coffee, pantry articles, and always a generous sample of our gardens' delights. You may find bananas hanging from the rafters, papayas, limes, avocados, or oranges, carambola - whatever the garden produces in season.
The cottage is airy, with a ceiling fan and a pretty constant temperature of about 80 degrees, a little cooler than other parts of the island, both due to our mountain altitude and the proximity of the river, and a bit on the cooler side at night. And, surprisingly, few pests. However, there are lizards, iguana, the Great Egret and Merlins, hawks and birdlife aplenty, swooping along up the river.
Evenings are a whole other thing. During the day enjoy the symphony of tropical birds but the nightly sounds of bamboo, and the tropical night birdies jungle music - will not only send you off to dreamland, but fill your soul with its mysterious sweet music and tranquility. At night, lie out in the lawn area and watch the stars, all of them.
We offer as near to perfect relaxation as you can get, but there are lots and lots of mountain excursions and adventures to do; some educational, some intriguiging, and some that can take your breath away. And we're always eager to make suggestions and offer advice as to what to do, and what beaches are best.

How To Get There
The Jungle Lodge is an hour and a half from San Juan, Aguadilla or Pobce airports. From San Juan West on Rte 22 to Arecibo, South one half hour on Route 10 to Utuado.

User Comments: My husband and I were truly blessed to have encountered this cottage while researching accomodations in Puerto Rico that were "off the beaten path". Janes Jungle Lodge was everything the description said it would be and more! We were greeted by two white horses! The owner is so down to earth and accomodating you could sit and talk with her for hours. Not to mention that she truly loves her guests and will do everything to make your stay wonderful. Additionally, you truly get to experience nature while staying in this comfy, cozy cottage in the middle of the Central mountains of Puerto Rico. I loved the winding roads, rolling green hills, bamboo trees, riverpools, and school buses made into restaurants scattered amongstthe area. The adventurist spirited would be well advised to map out attractions in the area and plan your days accordingly as there are quite a few "must-sees" relatively nearby this cottage. Whatever each day has in store for you I guarantee you will love returning back to the cottage for a tranquil and relaxing evening. I've been to Puerto Rico dozens of times, however, this last trip was unforgettable. Thank You "Jungle Jane"! If Puerto Rico has a special place in your heart this cabin is for you.
