Café Amapola is the only oceanfront terrace restaurant in Old San Juan. Located at 280 Calle Norzagaray (corner of Calle Tanca) in its restored two level historic colonial building.
The restaurant offers traditional Puerto Rican cuisine as well as contemporary dishes. Including local appetizers such as, sorullos (sweet, plump corn fritters); fried plantains topped with seasoned shredded chicken; and skewered shrimp with coconut and pineapple. The appetizers are served with homemade dipping sauces. Our main dishes include delicious stuffed mofongo (mashed green plantains with garlic or creole sauce); and chicken, steak and seafood dishes served with salad and your choice of rice and beans; fried plantains, french fries or yucca fritters. Lighter dishes include salads, homemade burgers and sandwiches. The menu includes freshly brewed local coffee and traditional Puerto Rican desserts. The experience would not be complete without one of our thirst quenching fruit frappes.
Café Amapola offers also a full service bar, great for pre- and post-dinner drinks or cocktails. Make sure to ask for the house specialty "Amapola Drink".
